The teams were tied at nine early on after Joliet answered an Indian 5-0 run with a few three-point plays. The Indians answered in a big way with 17 unanswered points over a span of 3 minutes to take a 26-9 lead.

Damon Gros Ventre started the run with a basket and the Indians turned up their defensive pressure leading to steals and easy scores. Joliet went to their 6’3” post, Bryce Williams, who closed the quarter with eight straight points to cut into their deficit, 17-31, after the first.
